We encounter superstition everywhere. Most people have some level of superstition. There are fascinating tales behind the superstitions of various cultures, whether it be putting faith in lucky numbers or attempting to avoid bad omens:
Birds & Animals :
- It is believed in North America that saying 'rabbit rabbit' on the first day of a new month brings good luck because rabbits have a strong communication with the spirit world.
- When a pregnant woman craves fish but does not eat it, her baby is born with a fish head in Canada.
- Women in Rwanda avoid eating goat meat because they believe it will cause them to grow facial hair.
- Irish people believe that an itchy nose indicates an impending fight. If you have a tickling sensation in your nose, ask someone to slap you on the hand and slap them back. Otherwise, you risk getting into much bigger trouble.

- A superstition holds that bird poop that lands on you or something you own will bring you wealth — keep in mind the next time you're sitting or standing under a tree
Weekdays:
- Your Transformation Tuesday plans should be reevaluated. It is believed in India that getting a haircut on a Tuesday will bring bad luck to the recipient.
Body Parts:
- In Turkey, an itchy right hand means you'll make money, while an itchy left hand means you'll lose money.
- Although infinite reflections appear to be cool, in Mexico and elsewhere, facing mirrors believes to open the door to the devil
- Working while whistling may be problematic in Lithuania, where it is illegal to do so since it is said to call forth devils.
Gifts related :
- If you receive a knife set or a pair of scissors as a gift, return the gift with a rupee because it is said that giving anything with a blade might break up a relationship.

Water and other items:
- Dripping water behind a person is thought to bring good luck in Serbia. Dumping it on them is always impolite, no matter where you are.
- We're all pretty familiar with this one, but some people might not be aware that the superstition originated in the Middle Ages. Back then, the ladder represented the gallows, where prisoners were hanged.
- Placing a pillow on the table is considered unlucky in Bulgaria. The same holds true for indoor umbrella opening!
- Some superstitions believe that spilling salt invites the devil to enter your life and cause misfortune. This is why spilling salt is considered unlucky.(Most people believe that if you spill salt on the ground, you should immediately take a pinch of salt and throw it over your left shoulder to blind the demon who has come to steal your soul.)
- It is considered bad luck in Germany to congratulate someone before their actual birthday. The Germans believe that if you do this, bad demons will hear your good wishes and they will not come true.
- Trimming your finger or toe nails after dark is considered bad luck in Turkey, India, and South Korea.
- Killing a spider is forbidden in Sweden because superstition holds that it will rain the next day.
