• It is believed in North America that saying 'rabbit rabbit' on the first day of a new month brings good luck because rabbits have a strong communication with the spirit world.

• When a pregnant woman craves fish but does not eat it, her baby is born with a fish head in Canada.

• Women in Rwanda avoid eating goat meat because they believe it will cause them to grow facial hair.

• Irish people believe that an itchy nose indicates an impending fight. If you have a tickling sensation in your nose, ask someone to slap you on the hand and slap them back. Otherwise, you risk getting into much bigger trouble.

• Some superstitions believe that spilling salt invites the devil to enter your life and cause misfortune. This is why spilling salt is considered unlucky.(Most people believe that if you spill salt on the ground, you should immediately take a pinch of salt and throw it over your left shoulder to blind the demon who has come to steal your soul.)

• It is considered bad luck in Germany to congratulate someone before their actual birthday. The Germans believe that if you do this, bad demons will hear your good wishes and they will not come true.

• Trimming your finger or toe nails after dark is considered bad luck in Turkey, India, and South Korea.

• Killing a spider is forbidden in Sweden because superstition holds that it will rain the next day.
